Medical Library

The primary mission of the Medical Library is to support patient care and staff education at Susquehanna Health System by providing easy and timely access to authoritative, up-to-date knowledge-based information. We welcome patients, family members, and other walk-in visitors.

List Of Terms

Catalog - A database of books and other materials owned by the library, searchable by author, title, or subject.

Medical Dictionary - Look up/research medical terms, word pronunciation and function using Merriam Webster's Medical Dictionary.

MedlinePlus - Find health and drug information for patients, family and friends. Medline Plus features an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials and the latest health news.

Familydoctor.org - This site is operated by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). AAFP is a national medical organization representing over 93,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students.

PubMed - Search MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles from as far back as the 1950's.

Clinical Trials - Find clinical research studies using human volunteers.

National Cancer Institute - The NCI, established under the National Cancer Act of 1937, is the Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training. The National Cancer Institute coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.

National Guideline Clearinghouse - A public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

NIH Senior Health - Information for older adults from the National Institutes of Health.
