Nurses Receive Hospice and Palliative Care Certification

Susquehanna Health Home Care & Hospice is pleased to announce the certification of two Hospice nurses. Melisa Hale, RN, CHPN recently became certified in hospice and palliative care through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses. At the same time, Marilyn Geib, RN, CHPN received recertification.

Nurses must have at least two years’ experience in a hospice program and take an examination in order to receive certification. Successful completion of the examination demonstrates a thorough understanding and competency in hospice and palliative nursing. The National Board of Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses began the certification process in 1994.

Susquehanna Health Home Care & Hospice now has 12 nurses who have attained this status, which accounts for more than half of the registered nurses on staff.
