Nurses Receive Hospice And Palliative Care Certification

Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice is proud to announce that several of its Hospice nurses recently became certified in hospice and palliative care through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses. Nurses receiving certification are Jan Smeenk, Shannon Millay, Mary Kay Conti, Melody Roedts and April Mingos. At the same time, Katie Bechdel received recertification.

In order to receive certification, nurses must have at least two years’ experience in a hospice program and take an examination. Successful completion of the examination demonstrates these nurses have a thorough understanding and competency in hospice and palliative nursing. The National Board of Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses began the certification process in 1994. With these most recent certifications, Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice now has twelve nurses who have attained the specialized status.
