Sports physical therapy services are performed following a referral from a doctor. Physical therapists use a hands-on approach to evaluate and treat patients with disease, injury or illness such as musculoskeletal disorders or neurological dysfunction. They use various techniques to stretch and strengthen muscles, challenge balancing skills, test coordination, teach home exercise programs and enhance mobility skills.

What Is A Physical Therapist?

Experienced and highly skilled sports physical therapists (PT's) work as a team with the orthopedic surgeon and certified athletic trainer to safely return individuals to a high level of sports participation through functional rehabilitation. State-of-the-art modalities are used in strengthening and treatment. Services include:

  • Injury rehabilitation .
  • Individualized exercise programs .
  • Strength training and conditioning .
  • Isokinetic functional strength testing .
  • Home exercise programs.
How To Schedule A Physical Therapy Appointment

When you call to schedule a physical therapy appointment at The Sports Medicine Center, we will ask you a few important questions. Having the following information ready when you call will help us schedule more efficiently:

  • Name .
  • Telephone number .
  • Referring doctor .
  • Diagnosis .
  • Type of insurance (please bring a copy of your card to the first visit).

Please be sure to bring along the prescription from the referring doctor. A physical therapist cannot provide treatment without this prescription.
