What To Bring

Your child may wear hospital pajamas or pajamas that have been brought from home. It is a good idea for your child to bring a favorite toy or stuffed animal. Please put your child's name on anything you bring from home.

Meals, Snacks & Parent Trays

Your child will receive a well-balanced meal tray for breakfast at 7:30 A.M., lunch at 11:30 A.M., and dinner at 4:30 P.M. each day. If your child is able to eat regular food, we provide a menu from which to select meals. Drinks and snacks such as cookies, crackers, cereal and toast are available on the unit at all times. If you want to bring in something special for your child to eat or drink, check with the nurses. A free meal tray is also provided for one parent or guardian who is living in or staying for long periods of time to help with the child's care.

Visiting

Parents or guardians are allowed to visit 24 hours a day. We encourage you to spend as much time as possible at the hospital with your child. You can help the nurses with bathing, feeding and toileting. Doing this will be very comforting to your child, especially if your child is very young.

Visiting hours for others who are 14 years of age or older are 11 A.M. - 8 P.M. Brothers and sisters under 14 years of age may visit only if the visit is arranged ahead of time with the patient's nurse. These visits will be short and the young visitors must stay inside the room throughout the visit.

Living-In

One parent or guardian may stay overnight with the patient. We encourage this, especially with children under six, or at least until your child gets used to us and to the hospital.

If you plan to spend the night, we ask that you sleep in the bed, cot or lounge chair we provide, not in your child's bed.
