Stroke Program

Susquehanna Health offers one of the most comprehensive Stroke Programs in the region, a Program that is dramatically improving the outcomes of our stroke patients. According to a recent VHA Pennsylvania study, stroke patients at Susquehanna Health had the lowest death rate of all participating hospitals in Pennsylvania.*

Our own statistics show that our stroke patients also have shorter hospital stays and are going home in greater numbers than ever before! Just a few years ago, only 50-60 percent of stroke patients were discharged back into the community. Today, typically 75-80 percent of our patients return home. And, at the end of this past year, the average length of stay in rehabilitation for stroke patients was 16 days compared with an average length of stay of 22 days in 1995.
