Luan Pham, M.D.

Undergrad: Villanova University
Medical School: Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University
Personal Info: I was born in a Malaysian refugee camp as my wonderful parents were making their arduous journey to the United States from Vietnam, but I was raised in a small town just north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although medicine has always been very interesting to me, I have many other interests including music, sports (Eagles football, Sixers and Villanova Basketball, and Phillies Baseball), theater, and video games. Prior to graduation from Penn State, I married my best friend, Bethany, who currently works as an L&D nurse at The Williamsport Hospital. We hope to have kids someday, but for now our dog (Maggie) and cat (Maximus) will have to suffice.
Why Fam Med: When I was in elementary school, I really wanted to be a cashier for Toys-R-Us. For better or for worse, my parents discouraged me from that career choice. I dressed up as a surgeon for career day in fifth grade because I thought that they were the coolest doctors. I have since decided that family physicians are the best types of doctors because we not only care for a wide variety of patients, but we also care for the entire person--body and mind. As a family physician every day is a challenge, and there is always more to learn, which appeals to my sense of wonder and ambition It takes a very special and caring person to be a family doc. I adamantly believe that Williamsport has the phenomenal support, resources, and teachers to help me become a competent and compassionate physician.
