Being far from friends and family, I was especially interested in a residency program that promoted an inviting and supportive atmosphere for young families. Social gatherings are a frequent affair here, perhaps at the Bullfrog Brewery for Quizzo, or just a day hike into the hills. Although Williamsport is "small town" in many ways, it also has an abundance of cultural life--from the Little League World Series and Community Arts Center, to shopping and great restaurants. Affordable housing has made it possible for me and my wife to really call Williamsport "home". |

Area Educational Facilities Williamsport is a wholesome place for children to grow and learn. Local public, private and religiously affiliated schools are well regarded and there are numerous affordable preschools and quality child-care facilities available. 
Lycoming College, a privately endowed liberal arts and sciences college and Pennsylvania College of Technology, an affiliate of Penn State University, a premier technical institution now granting bachelors and associates degrees in fields as diverse as aircraft mechanics, robotics, hospitality management and culinary arts, nursing, and physician assistant certification, are located within the city. In addition, Penn State University, Bucknell University, Susquehanna University, Mansfield University, Bloomsburg University and Lock Haven University are all within a 60-mile radius. |
