Reception

Our receptionist will take your name and direct you to the triage area.

Triage

The triage area is separate room where you can talk privately to the nurse about your needs. The nurse will take your vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature and ask you necessary questions about your illness or Injury to determine whether the Emergency room or the UrgiCenter is most appropriate for your specific needs.

During triage, the nurse may also determine the need for X-rays of your injury prior to your seeing a care provider. The provider can then see you and your X-rays, eliminating delays. If your illness or injury is life threatening, you will be taken to an exam room and treated immediately. If your illness is not life threatening, you will be seated in the waiting area until you are registered.

Registration

All patients must be registered so we have a record of who is to be seen by the care providers. (Some insurance companies require you to call your primary provider BEFORE coming to the ED). Please inform the registration clerk if you have a work-related injury or are HMO insured.

Waiting Area

You will be asked to have a seat in our waiting room until a care provider can see you. Bathrooms are located in the back hallway; phones are on the wall by the entrance. Vending machines are along the wall in the back hall. If you are a patient waiting in the waiting area, do not eat before being seen by the care provider.

Waiting room delays are sometimes unavoidable. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you will be seen in the order of your arrival. We have a continuous flow of patients arriving by ambulance. Medically and legally, we are required to treat patients with most serious emergencies first. We have a communication plan which ensures that we talk with you often so you understand how long a wait you may have before a care provider will see you or how long it will be until a lab test result is available.

If you feel that your condition has changed while you are waiting, please tell the triage nurse.

Discharge

Upon discharge from the Emergency department, you will be given discharge instructions and information for follow-up care.
